After showing the video to friends and getting feedback, I've decided to remaster the audio, adjust some of the effects and replace some the footage.

I've had to drop one of the scenes from my films due to already going over the five minute limit and the actor I had chosen having some personal problems at the moment. The scene that is being deleted is the scene in the studio with the producer, this scene isn't vital to the story, and only fills in some character development for SoundBomb 2000.

I have begun editing my current footage into place for the final product, I have already encountered problems such as sticking to the storyboard and original lengths of scenes, this has led to me having to consider dropping scenes and content from the film.

Aims and Context Version 4

Aim – I am making a short film, my target audience will be film fans, music fans and young adults aged between 17 and 25 primarily male and middle class, this is because of the content in the film, the references that are made and the behaviour of the characters which mainly appeals to this target audience. The main influences behind this film are This is Spinal Tap (1984, Rob Reiner, USA) and Metallica – Some Kind of Monster (2004 , Joe Berlinger, Bruce Sinofsky, USA) I will be using Mise-en-Scene and Editing for my main stylistics. I will be using Mise-En-Scene in a way to emphasise the time period (1983) this will include characters costumes, props and locations. The purpose for my film will be to evoke laughter and pleasure from the audience, and even nostalgia for the older viewers, this will be achieved with the music and the way the characters talk.

My film will be a short film, five minutes in length. The title of my film with be called “Being Soundbomb 2000”.

As they’re walking to a café they meet a young female fan called Daffodil who is crazy about Soundbomb 2000, after a visit to a studio it becomes apparent that Soundbomb 2000 doesn’t write his own songs and his story to how he became signed is somewhat hard to believe for someone who is now so famous. After they return back to Soundbomb 2000’s home studio Walter goes to get some food, upon returning he finds Soundbomb 2000 and Daffodil in bed together with Soundbomb insultingly telling him to leave, showing that Soundbomb 2000 only seemed to like Walter until women appeared, then he immediately is resistant to help Walter anymore showing that Soundbomb 2000 doesn’t live up to the “good guy” image that the media portray him to have.

INT. RECORDING STUDIO. DAY

OPENING SEQUENCE

WALTER is sat on some stage rig boxes with general music

equipment positioned around him. WALTER looks up at the

camera as if to only just acknowledge it's presence. He then

sighs.

WALTER

It was twenty seven years ago now,

the year was 1983 and there was a

music artist that defined the New

Wage genre. Soundbomb 2000 had

released his first album, titled

Nothing to Lose and toured

everywhere in the world, he even

managed to score a gig in North

Korea! Soundbomb 2000 appeared to

be unstoppable! This is the story

of him and the time I spent with

him after that first album, as he

returned to the studio to begin

recording his second album.

INT. SOUNDBOMB 2000'S HOME STUDIO. DAY

FIRST MEETINGS

WALTER enters the room looking around, paying close attention

to a red bed located on the floor, SOUNDBOMB 2000 is pacing

up and down yelling on the phone.

SOUNDBOMB

NO! I Don't want to stay in some

small hotel! It's New York! It's

going to be a five star penthouse!

Do they know who I am!? I'm

Soundbomb 2000! I'm a worldwide

superstar! Tell them if they don't

sort it I'm not playing the gig!

SOUNDBOMB slams the phone down, shaking his head

WALTER

Uhh, hi! I'm Walter Donovan, I'm

here about the documentary

SOUNDBOMB looks up surprised and notices the camera, he then

smiles WALTER extends his arm to shake SOUNDBOMB's hand,

SOUNDBOMB just looks at it, starts laughing and carries on

regardless

SOUNDBOMB

Walter!? Seriously? Ahh your name

totally sucks! ...I guess I have to

be nice to you, otherwise you'll do

some crazy voodoo to your film and

make me look ridiculous or

SOUNDBOMB waves his hands when he mentions the voodoo

WALTER

Uhm yeah, this is about you, not

me...So let's keep it that way?

Whatever man, this is just for

WALTER

So, where's the rest of your band?

That's the touring band, they're a

bunch of pretentious uptight

WALTER

What's so bad about them?

They have all this stage energy

which is phat! But not when they're

just trying to outshine me! I'm the

main act! I'm the person the

audience paid to see, not them! My

record company pays them to play my

music, not try to be my music! This

one time, I set a load of fireworks

off, the crowd went INSANE! What

does my guitarist do? Jumps out

into the crowd! It wouldn't have

been so bad, but I kinda needed him

to play the next part of the song!

WALTER

Oh! Didn't you play the Budoken?

WALTER

Budoken? It's in Japan the Beatles

famously played there?

SOUNDBOMB

Oh, yeah that was major lame! They

were kicking up some fuss because I

wanted to have some of them kung fu

fighters on stage with me, y'know,

like that Bruce Lee guy who died?

They were complaining saying it was

disrespectful to their culture!

Pfft! They were being so touchy,

eventually I did play the gig, I

hated it!

WALTER is sat down to a standing SOUNDBOMB 2000 who is

awkwardly fidgeting.

WALTER

So, I'm guessing the first question

would have to be, did you know that

your first album was going be a big

hit?

SOUNDBOMB

It's interview time!?

SOUNDBOMB slouches not unenthused by having to sit through an

Oh, okay, erm, I guess I did, I

mean since I was a child I knew I

was destined for great things,

About 5 years ago, when I left

school I started working at my

local supermarket, Kwik Save, then

they sold a guitar, so I kinda

stole it since I didn't think

anyone would want it, then one day

I was playing it in the park for

some hot girls when I was

approached by some guy asking me to

go with him, I thought I was under

arrest or something, turns out that

it was a talent scout on his

dinner, he told me that I looked

the part, and he was going to make

me be the part! He said I was going

to be a star!

WALTER

Do you think that you earned this

opportunity, or do you think that

it was luck?

SOUNDBOMB

I think I earned it! If it wasn't

for me stealing that guitar I'd

still be stacking shelves in Kwik

How did it feel to return home

after the tour?

SOUNDBOMB

Amazing! I'd been touring the

entire world and I was just sick of

having to learn phrases in

different languages, the worst part

was I didn't know what I was

saying! It was management that had

fixed me up with some phrases to

shout with the translations next to

them, I was scared I'd say

something ridiculous! Safe to say

I'm glad I'm back recording again

WALTER

Has a date been set for when your

next album is due for release?

SOUNDBOMB

I'd say early '84 but I'm not going

to make a definite statement yet...

Earlier today I completed my storyboards for my film. I also got some of my props prepared for the film, the image below is one of the props printed in A3 . I need to redo the Screenplay adding more actions for the characters.

This video is an example of the naivity and the stupidity of the characters in most Rock Documentaries, this has influenced my film as the character SoundBomb 2000 is slightly dim in his behaviour.

Weekly Progress Report

In the past week I have completed the final peice of the Script, after presenting it, I was told to go back to it and redraft it with more actions in place so there is a clear flow of what is happening on the screen.

I have also started to do my storyboards, with this I have included shots of the B-Roll I would like to be using in the film, and at the exact points in which it is going to be used.

In the week commencing I plan to produce a complete script which will be used, and print of a copy each for my actors, I also plan on finishing the Storyboards, once these are finished I plan on producing some of the props that are going to be used in film, get the locations booked and commence filming.

Latest Progress

Yesterday I started to type up my Scripts into FinalDraft. I had to take some time out to learn how to use this program, but once I had figured it out I had started to make progress quickly

I had noted I was unable to copy and paste FinalDraft scripts into Blogger, which I have discussed with Tim.

Earlier today I had made a start on my storyboards, I plan to have them finished in the near future along with the script.

After this is complete I will make final adjustments to my work to prepare it for filming.

I have also recently spoke with Alex Larkman, who is currently in the process of recording the song for the film.

FM3 Brief

This coursework unit is worth 50% of your A2 Course and as such 25% of your full A-Level.

The creative project is worth 60 marks, the small scale research unit is worth 40 marks.

Aims and Context - Required for assessment

Creative Product - 45 Marks

Evaluation - 15 Marks

The Film/Video production option of FM3 gives you the opportunity to:

Develop an extended sequence from an imagined feature

or

Develop a complete short film of between 3 - 5 minutes.

With both of these options you are meant to engage with the issues raised in FM1 in relation to the production of meaning and the study of film stylistic and theory.

You can undertake this task as an individual and it is advised that you do so, but if you do work in a group then your production role within the group must be clearly defined and you will need to provide evidence of your contribution in terms of that role and you will be assessed on your performance in that role.

The advice of the Film Studies department is that each student should plan and produce a short film or extract and that other students with a study group will help them. You will work on each others films.

All students will aid everyone in the study group and they will in turn receive help on their production.

As you can see clearly it is vital that if you are contributing to a production group you must be reliable, you must be committed and you must accept the final say on creative decisions of the person who's project it is.

The finished production should clearly show evidence of the individual roles and while group members may assist in various roles you will be assessed on the role you have chosen as your primary role.

This will form the basis of your reflective analysis.

The reflective analysis should select key features of the creative project and reflect critically on both the creative process and the product, focusing on the construction and the impact of your specific role and how meaning has been created.

In order to aid you in this you will be required to produce a blog which must be updated weekly to allow for effective monitoring. This will take the form of a production diary and record your progress and creative decisions made.

Film Script Draft - Interview

Walter Donovan - So, I'm guessing the first question would have to be, did you know that your first album would have been a big of a hit as it was?

Soundbomb 2000 - It's interview time!? Oh, okay, erm, I guess I did, I mean since I was a child I knew I was destined for great things, y'know, eye of the tiger and all that! I'd sit in lessons in school just scribbling song lyrics in my book.

Walter Donovan - When did you start to actually make music??

Soundbomb 2000 - About 5 years ago, when I left school I started working in my local supermarket, Kwik Save, then they sold a guitar, so I kinda stole it since I didn't think anyone would have wanted it. Then one day I was playing in the park for some hot girls when I was approached by some guy asking me to go with him, I thoughtr I was under arrest or something, turns out that it was a talent scout on his dinner...He told me that I was rubbish now, but he was going to turn me into a star.

Walter Donovan - Do you think you earned this opportunity or do you think it was luck?

Soundbomb 2000 - I think I earned it, if it wasn't for me stealing that guitar I'd still be stacking shelves in Kwik Save.

Walter Donovan - How did it feel to return home after the tour?

Soundbomb 2000 - Amazing, I'd been touring the entire world and I was just about sick of having to learn phrases in different languages, the worst part was I didn't know what I was saying, it was management that had fixed me up with some phrases to shout with supposed translations next to them. I was scared I'd say something ridiculous! Safe to say I'm glad I'm back recording again.

Walter Donovan - Has a date been set for when your next album is due to release?

Soundbomb 2000 - I'd say early '84, but I'm not going to make a definite statement yet...

Meeting with Alex Larkman

Last night Alex and I had discussed one of the settings we'll be using (his house) and how we'll be moving things around in order to have nothing post-1983 in the room. We did some practice takes with the camera and worked on how we're going to be working together.

This also led to several script ideas coming up too. Which will be written soon in the following posts.

Aims and Context - Version 2

Aim – I am making a short film, my target audience will be film fans, music fans and young adults aged between 17 and 25, this is because of the music theme of the film and the behaviour of the characters. The main influences behind this film are This is Spinal Tap (1984, Rob Reiner, USA) and Metallica – Some Kind of Monster (2004 , Joe Berlinger, Bruce Sinofsky, USA) I will be using Mise-en-Scene and Editing for my main stylistics. I will be using Mise-En-Scene in a way to emphasise the time period (1983) this will include characters costumes, props and locations. The purpose for my film will be to evoke laughter and pleasure from the audience, and even nostalgia fro the older viewers, this will be done with the music and the way the characters talk.

My film will be a short film, five minutes in length. The title of my film with be called “Being Soundbomb 2000”.

Meetings with Cast Members

Tonight I am meeting up with Alex Larkman (Soundbomb 2000) to discuss his lines, and possibly refine them. We also plan on discussing the song that is being written for the film, and photographs for the CD Covers and other props.

On the Saturday I plan on meeting my Radio DJ in order to provide clearer recording equipment, and discussing the script.

Getting preparation work done

I have recently spoken with the Radio Presenter who is going to record his first soundclips for me tonight, in order for me to edit together. I am also speaking to Alex Larkman (Soundbomb 2000) who is recording a song to fit with the film. I will be aquiring production work from him soon, and hopefull have the first recording done by tomorrow afternoon.

My record company pays them to play my music, not to try and be my music! This one time, I set a load of fireworks off, the crowd went INSANE, what does my guitarist do? Jumps out into the crowd! It wouldn't be so bad, but I kinda needed him to play the next part of the song!

Walter - Oh! Didn't you play the Budoken?

Aims and Context

I am making a short film, my target audience for my film would be young adults, between 17-25, and music fans. The main influences behind my work are typical band documentaries that show the band working towards a new album or something similar, major examples include Metallica - Some Kind of Monster and This is Spinal Tap. Throughout the film one of the main issues will be the Mise-En-Scene, mainly to emphasise the time period that the film is set in. I will be looking to further my skills in Mise-En-Scene and Editing.

Radio Station Character Reference

The Radio Station character is directly inspired from the character Three Dog from the video game Fallout 3. I have picked this character, as I believe that the characters excitable voice can be linked to the time period of the film.

SoundBomb 2000 had released his first album, Nothing to Lose and toured everywhere in the world, he even managed to play a gig in North Korea! SoundBomb 2000 appeared to be unstoppable! This is the story of him of the time I spent with him after that first album, as he returned to the studio, and began recording his second album.
